So were these 2 hours. After a small mischief pulled by Rocket, begins a journey full of laughing moments, emotional moments and adorable moments.

James Gunn, the same guy who directed the first part of the movie, returned to direct this sequel (and, recently confirmed that he'll be directing the third part too). The first part, as we all know, is considered the best installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by many. So, naturally, there were a lot of expectations from Volume 2.  People feared that the story might not be that good, or it might turn out to have very similar tone as the first one. Well, it's true that it doesn't stand upto the first one, but it does have a quite different tone to tell the story.

The first movie helped the characters trust each other, and become a family. Whereas this movie tests the bonds of their friendship. It tells that DNA is not the only thing which makes you a family.

Baby Groot is as adorable as promised in the trailers, and throughout the movie, you wish that he had more screentime. Rocket is witty, like always, and Drax knows how to laugh his a** off. We meet new characters, and (spoiler) loose an old one. Few secrets about Quill's family is revealed, which might be shocking and disturbing. Overall, we have an amazing team to save to galaxy, who forgets about themselves while caring for others.

Visual Effects are a treat. Though they're not as mind blowing as Doctor Strange's, you might be wishing to spend some extra penny to get a better experience.

There's one thing which lacked in the movie, that was setting up the next ones, or connecting somehow to the larger universe, which every Marvel Movie does. The first part had an Infinity Stone, Ant Man had Falcon, and a Civil War scene in the credits, Doctor Strange had Thor in the credits, but despite having 5 post credit scenes, they chose to just have a funny moment, or set up Volume 3. Instead, had they teased about how Guardians will meet the Avengers in Infinity War, or shown how the attack on Earth was dealt with (which remains to be a flaw in the continuation of the MCU). They could've even teased us about Thor Ragnarok given that it largely takes place in the cosmos. Anyway, none of the 5 post credit scenes disappoint.

At the end, it's a nice movie, but not as good as the first one. You might even miss it, and it wouldn't spoil any continuity. Just make sure to watch it before Infinity War, which hits the screens around this time next year, to be updated with the characters and their stories.
